Comments: Our original aircraft, N372DA, was scheduled to depart gate E7 with a ten minute delay. Onboard the aircraft, maintenance workers gathered in the back near the galley. Just after boarding was complete, the captain announced, "Attention ladies and gentlemen. I'll be your pilot today, hopefully. However, you may have noticed the maintenance workers onboard the plane. There is no power to the galley, and actually the aircraft was having this trouble when it arrived here. Please take your carry-on items and your boarding pass, and exit the plane. We're going to try to find you another plane." Fortunately this happened at ATL, where there are many Delta aircraft to spare. Everyone exited into the gate area, where we would later reboard a different aircraft at gate E9 with a scheduled departure time of 22:45. While waiting for the crew to prepare the aircraft, I remembered that LaGuardia has a curfew, and closes every night from midnight until 06:00. The captain informed us that we would not know our arrival airport (LGA or JFK) until we were en-route. Finally up in the air, the airline provided an in-flight movie to make-up for the trouble back in Atlanta. Thankfully the pilots were able to receive clearance from Port Authority to land at LaGuardia, as long as we touched down before 01:00. An interesting night, capped off with a beautiful arrival into runway 4.
